Benfica, Real Madrid, Celtic, FC Copenhagen and West Ham United will come to Bassevelde on 2, 3 and 4 June for the 26th edition of the U13Cup
Tonight Club Brugge will play Benfica in the Jan Breydel Stadium in the round of 16 of the Champions League. Both clubs can also meet at the 26th edition of the U13Cup. Benfica is one of the many foreign names coming to Bassevelde on 2, 3 and 4 June.
Last month, the organizers of the U13Cup launched the first names for the prestigious youth football tournament on the grounds of KVV Klauwaarts in Bassevelde. Among them are mainly Belgian and Dutch toppers.
A second load will be dropped today. In addition, S.L. Benfica from Lisbon. The fanion of the Portuguese is today a guest in Bruges for the eighth final of the Champions League, but there is also the possibility that both clubs will meet in Bassevelde. The U13Cup has therefore not stolen its international nickname of ‘Champions League for under thirteens’.
In addition to Benfica, the organizers are also announcing a lot of great international names.
Of course the regular customers from Glasgow will be present again. Celtic was one of the founders of the U13Cup 26 years ago, has already won the tournament several times and does not want to be missed in 2023 either.
From Denmark, FC Copenhagen comes along for the second year in a row.
In addition, defending champion Real Madrid is also shining on the bill. The Royal has since grown into one of the fixed values and a multi-winner.
It’s up to the guys from West Ham United to try and put a stop to that. The ‘Hammers’ represent the Premier League this year.
From the own country, Cercle Brugge was added. The association has a very strong group this year. Earlier it became known that KAA Gent, Racing Genk, Royal Antwerp FC, Club NXT and RSC Anderlecht also participate. “I think we can safely say that all top youth programs from our own country are present”, says a satisfied tournament director John De Pauw. Naturally, our own U13Cup selection, which brings together the best young football players from the region, will also be present.
From the Netherlands, AZ and PSV come to Bassevelde. “Two football academies that are among the best football teams in the tournament every year. Technically well-maintained and a lot of speed.”
This means that 14 of the 16 names for the U13Cup are known. The last two absolute top names will be announced at the beginning of March.
