Four Champions League winners at kickoff
For 27 years, the U13Cup has been one of the references when it comes to international youth soccer in our country. With four Champions Leaugue winners on the bill, it wants to stay that way. Names like Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund capture the imagination. With the two teams from Manchester on the bill, it promises to be a special weekend anyway, as both clubs also play each other in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
That the U13Cup has a rich history should be obvious. Thus, with Charles De Ketelaere and Teun Koopmeiners, two U13Cup boys got to take the Europa League into the air yesterday. De Ketelaere was a guest in 2014 with Club Next, Koopmeiners in 2011 with AZ.
In search of the new Tessa Wullaert during U14 Sparks Cup
The ‘U13Cup’ in Bassevelde will also have a girls’ tournament this year. “With the ‘U14 Sparks Cup,’ we want to inspire young girls and women,” echoes the organization. The tournament will be named “Sparks Cup,” a reference to the Red Flames. ‘It starts with a spark, ends with a flame’. We really fervently hope to see future Red Flames at work here.
The first “U14 Sparks Cup” features the entire top six of the Super League, making the first edition already a sporting hit. Who knows, maybe we will get to see the new Tessa Wullaert at work next? The U14 Sparks Cup starts on Friday night, May 24, at 6:30 pm. The finals are scheduled for Sunday at 4:20 p.m., just before the U13Cup grand final.
A whole weekend of carnival in Bassevelde
The U13Cup is a celebration on, but certainly off the field. This year on Friday, Saturday and Sunday we are also packing out a U13Cup fairground with some surprising attractions at democratic prices. Allez, allez, roulez!
All eyes on the U13Cup selection
Every year, we look forward to the performance of our own U13Cup squad. This year, “our boys” will take on Manchester City, Feyenoord and LOSC Lille in the group stage. Anything but an easy draw. Curious to see if they can also surprise friend and foe this year. According to our U13Cup coaches, the boys are definitely ready. Supporters on post!
G soccer at the U13Cup: an annual tradition for G-FC Grass divers
For several years, the opening night of the U13Cup has invariably featured G soccer. The municipality of Assenede also now has a proud representative within the sport with the G-FC Grass divers. May 24 will be an unforgettable night for many soccer players.
