Juventus FC replaces Real Madrid at 26th edition U13CUP
Juventus FC replaces Real Madrid at the 26th edition of the U13CUP. The Royal’s U13 unexpectedly still has obligations at home. With Juventus FC, however, president John De Pauw managed to snare another great from European soccer.
Real Madrid is defending champion at the U13Cup. The Spanish superpower was therefore eager to descend to Bassevelde again this year to defend their title. “Unfortunately, they won’t get permission from the Spanish Football Federation,” said John De Pauw. “The competition is still running at the time of the tournament and one of Real’s opponents refused to reschedule the match so that Real Madrid could come to Bassevelde. Both we and the people of Real Madrid are very annoyed with the situation, but it’s no different.”
Due to the cancellation of Real Madrid, John De Pauw had to look for a replacement at the eleventh hour. “Replacing a name like Real Madrid is not obvious, of course. There are only a few clubs in Europe that have the same history and charisma. With Juventus FC, I think we have found such a club. ‘Juve’, like Real Madrid, has won everything there is to win in its history and appeals to a large audience. Moreover, it has a reputable youth operation with branches all over the world. We are curious to see what the boys of ‘la vecchia signora’ will put on the mat, but are already very excited with this exciting new name.”
